Crowned Heads is proud to introduce its first limited edition release made at Nicaraguan American Cigars S.A. (NACSAI, "Azul y Oro."

The seed for Azul y Oro was actually planted back in 2011. 'That Spring, the Crowned Heads founders, Mike Conder and Jon Huber, traveled to Nicaragua to explore the premium cigar landscape. Their trip was largely orchestrated and managed by one man, Gustavo Cura.

Gustavo was in charge of all of Oliva Tobacco Company's tobacco farms and interests in Nic-aragua, as well as overseeing its tobacco processing subsidiary PROCENICSA. As a token of their gratitude, Mike and Jon gifted Gustavo with a bottle of his favorite blended Scotch whisky, renowned for its iconic blue label. According to Gustavo, that bottle remains unopened to this day, serving as a memento of the friendship formed a decade ago.

'Today, Gustavo also heads up the NACSA factory in Esteli, Nicaragua, along with General Manager and Master Cigar Maker, Raul Disla. Earlier this year, Crowned Heads teamed up with Disla and set out to create a blend that would be worthy of the inaugural release from Crowned Heads and NACSA. The result is 'Azul y Oro, a blend that is rich, complex and full-flavored, and a brand that takes its inspiration from that iconic bottle of Scotch whisky dating back to 2011.

Azul y Oro is a medium-plus-bodied Toro cigar comprised of a Nicaraguan (Jalapa) binder, filler tobaccos from 3 different regions of Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic, and is finished with an Ecuadorian (Haba-no) wrapper leaf. Azul y Oro is packaged in 12-count boxes, with a total production limited to 2,500 boxes (30,000 total cigars). Manufactured at the NASA factory in Esteli, Nicaragua, under the supervision of Raul Disla, Azul y Oro will begin shipping in November.
