Piece Unique, which measures 6 inches by 52 ring gauge, comes packaged in 15-count boxes and has a suggested retail price of $40 per cigar. Only 500 boxes are being produced. Gellis expects the cigars to begin shipping to tobacconists (both in the United States and international) in early November.

“The process to complete Piece Unique has been a long one,” he says. “From the start to the final ending was a two-year period to source these tobaccos and get the blend to define the vision that was set for it.”

In the world of high-end watches, a “piece unique” is a one-of-a-kind timepiece typically aimed at the most serious, and usually wealthiest, collectors (think the Patek Philippe Grandmaster Chime Ref. 6300A-010, for example). Kyle Gellis of Warped Cigars has taken a page from haute horology and created a brand of the same name.

While the Gellis Family Cigars Piece Unique is certainly more than just one single cigar, Gellis says he’s “utilizing the same methodology, only crafting the interior blend one time.” The limited-edition Piece Unique is blended to be medium-bodied, and is made up of an Ecuadoran Connecticut shade wrapper, Nicaraguan binder and fillers from Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic. The cigars are rolled in the Dominican Republic at Tabacalera La Isla and, according to Gellis, were aged for one year in Spanish cedar before being boxed.
